Today we will discuss which game should win our award for "Best Platformer" and who should receive our "Rainbow Yo-Noid" award for the most pathetic corporate virtue signal.
Please consider what you would like to argue should be the winning item for each of the passing categories.
Additionally, consider who you would like to nominate as your electors. You may choose 3 electors to cast votes for you on your behalf. Persuade them as necessary. You may choose yourself once. The top 12 most nominated electors will assemble as our electoral tribunal, and will vote on the final categories. Feel free to message me directly with your nomination, or comment your nominations publicly. The electors are allowed to vote their own conscience.
Ok, now this is a little out there compared to the usual super meat boy or n millionth retro pixel cash-in trash that people associate with the genre. But what about nominating BoneworksVR for the best platformer?
It's not strictly purely platformer, but the puzzle sections where you can procedurally run/jump/climb/build-a-wonky-fucking-tower to victory really are one of it's better selling points and it's one of the few games I can think of this that have really done anything novel in gameplay about getting A->B.
Plus it's making humanity better as it culls the weak who will die to the intense motion sickness on the way.
Dunno who I want as Electors though. Fuck it, I'll throw a vote in for Dom since he's already taken the initiative to get the ball rolling. I'll try and think up another two.
TIL that there are people who actually bought VR headsets.
Legit about 3/4 of the people I've had over to try it out have decided they want to get one themselves.
I don't do early adopter bullshit, only decided they had enough support this year to get one, but there's enough decent games now to be worth it as-is, if you have the money and can be arsed with the setup effort.
Beat Saber alone is a big selling point, it's hitting that same niche as guitar hero used to. throw it at anyone, especially the nominally non-gamers and they're going to have a good time.
Hah, yeah that game still gives me the sweats if I go too long.
I don't have any objections to BoneworksVR as best platformer. I think the electors should vote their conscience, so if they want to make some kind of protest vote to demonstrate how shit the industry was being, I say we take that anyway.
You don't have to vote immediately on who you want to be your electors.
Part of the benefit of this is seeing what people are aiming for, and rallying behind those people as they come out.
I'd like to avoid being an elector for procedural reasons, but I'll do it if needed.
As such, I've added myself as your first nomination. You have 2 more available.
I second Boneworks, after I got over the headaches. It's the Super Mario of VR.
