Any time you hear the term "synthetic" it means petroleum-based. The entire chemical supply chain is predicated on the use of petroleum and the power generated by said petroleum.
We wouldn't have the (agricultural) green revolution without oil. Without massive power production capabilities, none of which are currently feasible outside of nuclear power (the best carbon-neutral power plant), we would lose huge amounts of food production. In addition, hydrogen widely touted as a "green" fuel is almost entirely extracted from oil as well.
In order to truly reduce and remove our reliance on oil we need to have a good, hard look at the low-hanging fruit we can actually work with. There's a reason the order is "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle", because the lowest-hanging fruit that we can start with is reducing this EXACT kind of consumptive behavior. Doesn't matter if the hoodie were 100% cotton, you shouldn't buy it unless you need it.
Oh well, the rich urban and suburban population she's reaching out to have been brainwashed into thinking the solution to save the environment is to consume additional "green" products instead of reducing total consumption.
As a kid, my friends and I would stick our hands out to make captain planet, and the slowest guy who got stuck shouting heart would get beaten up for being a faggot.
On a side note, I just realized that my hoodies are cheap, my favorite cost me around 30 bucks and I've been wearing it for years. By working from home and not spending much on clothes I'm probably more green then AOC.
Socialists also ends up in a grave under socialism. It turns out that communism and socialism can't produce a lot of food, or enough food. Even before the Trade War and the Chinese Virus, China was struggling to feed all of its people adequately. Now, I can see widespread starvation within China as its economy is in shambles.
Unless their plan was to reduce the global population to an mere fraction of current totals and enslave the survivors...
These people who want to end reliance on oil don't seem to realize just how many things are made of oil.
masks and gloves on the side of the road

Wasn't that the plot to a Captain Planet episode? Bad guy does something outwardly pro-environment in a way that's actually destructive?

I fucking hate clothes shopping. I pretty much patch as needed and wear things until they fall apart.
There's a surprise, a commie hypocrite, to quote Iago "I think I'm going to have a heart attack and die from not surprised"
A socialist does well under capitalism, a capitalist ends up in a grave under socialism, just a thought.
