I came across one of those "it's not for you" articles. Basically saying the same thing we have gotten used to hearing regarding diversity/representation. It basically said that those who don't like diversity should not watch it and it isn't for us. I long ago gave up trying to explain that diversity for the sake of diversity is poison for entertainment and that I don't care what color they are, but if the show exists to peddle fake narratives (racism/sexism) then the show will fail.
I waved the white flag a while back and just decided with few exceptions to only watch/read stuff from 2014 and prior. Luckily with video games I am a Skyrim addict and with mods I can play forever. I doubt Bethesda would go woke with Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield.
What I don't understand is this. Why is it they can tell us "don't watch it" or "it's not for you" but they get so upset if we suggest the same thing. Like if a new show comes out that doesn't meet the woke mafia's standard for diversity/representation why can't we just say "well if the cast is too white then it isn't for you or you can just watch something else"
And one thing I will never understand as a lifelong comic book reader/collector is why so many feminists get into comic books or gaming for that matter if they hate the hobby so much. I've known plenty of female fans or gamers who legitimately like the hobbies but I doubt they would be able to get a position with those companies. Perfect example of this is that lady that is in charge of the She-Hulk show. She can't shut up about how evil white male nerds are and how horrible western literature is but she has no problem making money off of a character created by a white guy. Oh yea, that is another triggering thing. Telling these people to make their own material.
But does anyone have any idea why this mindset or double standard exists? Sometimes I feel like an oddball because I am a 40 year old black American and I understand that the U.S. is majority white, so I am not going to throw a fit when most of the entertainment is done by whites. Plus I think someone has personal issues if they have to see themselves represented in everything they watch. But what do I know.
It’s healthy for you to not have to see yourself in fiction, everything was meant to be escapism entertainment at the end of the day. I don’t think of myself as He-Man or (old) She-Ra, and that’s ok. I like those characters because they exemplify some of the best heroic traits of both sexes, not because I see myself in them.
A lot of these people are mentally-ill/have savior complexes. They’re similar to the ultra-conservatives of the 90s, but on steroids. “We have to take it away or else the masses will sin!” Same message, different people.
...You don’t know how modern-day Microsoft thinks. :( Now that they own Bethesda, I’d be surprised if they DIDN’T go woke.
Well elder scrolls is such an open world I hope they don’t beat you over the head with it.
Eeehhhh, I’d prepare for at least one main quest to be dedicated to helping out/referencing the woke cause.
Again, I’d love to be wrong, but as another Skyrim/Fallout fan, I’m also trying to be realistic between what we know about Microsoft/Bethesda nowadays.
It was rumored that it takes place in Hammerfall so it may spare us on the racist angle since the majority will be black. Redguards are themselves formidable conquerors and if I remember correctly hated magic users so it will be very hard to make them in to some poor innocent victims of the evil white empire run by an orange emperor and his army of blue armored troops. Granted that logic or cannon never influenced SJWs but I do have hopes for this game, it is more resistant to woke influences then other games.
The biggest threat are feminists, if it is not to much feminist influence we can mod.
Eh, when TES 6 is released the story will be about how those opressive whites don't just let the poor black victims slaughter them in bright daylight.
