So I live in Texas and I notice republicans are winning by smaller and smaller margins. I see Biden may win Georgia and once reliable red states are quickly turning purple. I’ll never understand why people move to these states and ruin them by voting for the policies that messed up their old states.
I predict in 10 or 20 years the GOP will just full embrace the “free stuff” movement.
If you look at a county-by-county electoral map, you will see the vast majority of the country is red except for coastal areas and urban centers.
From the 50s people fled the cities into the suburbs. Starting with the yuppie movement in the 80s, city living became cool again for young people. So states with large and growing urban populations started to shift blue, other solidly blue states turned red.
Each lifestyle- urban, suburban, exurban, rural comes with its own set of political issues that favor one party or the other.
If you look at electoral maps from the 70s or 80s, they are vastly different from what we've seen for the past 20 years.
2020 with its riots and "defund the police", and work from anywhere movements, might be the year to break the urbanization trend and see a new suburban exodus.
Also whether he wins or not, Trump changed the GOP, like Reagan before him.
And Dems used to be the party of the working class, of Catholics, of everyday people, and they've become the party of the corrupt elite and alienating much of their former base over time.
So I think the political trends of the last 20 years, which people assume will go on forever, will not necessarily be the political trends of the next 20 years.
No, if Trump doesn't win it's over.
There will be no recovery for at least 20 years, and by then the destruction will be on a Cuba, Zimbabwe or Venezuela level.
Boat people FROM America will be trying to flee to safer nations... by the millions.
In the coming weeks going to be having a conversation with my father about selling the farms. Only reason we haven't was that currently if something happens to him we get the up stepped value as its historical cost. If Biden's plan goes through capital gains at a much higher rate would come due. So we're better off to sell now and pay the lower capital gains rate and take the cash and move it all off shore.
Already looking for property in Antigua. You can buy a house down there for $400,000 and it's $150,000 for citizenship on a passport that is valid in most of the world we want to travel.
We moved enough off shore to rebuild somewhere else when the time came. We knew it was coming, but it's here. At the very least I can make sure my wife and little one will be safe elsewhere.
I'll stay and fight. I swore an oath to defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
