Its why "taste of their own medicine" is a failing tactic naive people here cling to. They never learn, they just think it was an accident or a "bad guy" perverted something good against them. Even if they turn on their former beliefs, its always in a milquetoast baby sense, like Mark Ruffalo defending Pratt last week.
Its good for petty justice, and to remove people from power, but it doesn't actually absolve or save anyone except in extremely rare cases.
The problem is that sane people aren't willing to go scorched earth on that shit. Because they still believe that the opposition is salvegable. And if I am honest, i couldn't go fully scorched earth. Because I still believe that they just don't know better. That they never even thought about considering the other side.
