tl;dr: After the decapitation in France the French stopped being spineless for a second and spoke out against Islamism. Muslims didn't take it well. Erdogan in particular started exerting his influence all over Europe.
Erdogan runs various Islamic organizations that even work together with some local EU governments for things like Islam classes in school. He also tries to stop police from investigating radical mosques, which he's currently doing in Germany.

The 'spineless' French have been banning headscarves from public schools for over a decade. Many French newspapers, as opposed to zero in US and A, featured the cartoons of the pedophile Muhammad.
It's a left-wing government in France, led by a neoliberal Rothschild banker, who is criticizing Islamism.
I think you will find the French to be far less spineless than you think.

Smug Europeans are also wallowing under a shitpile of globalism just like us and you still somehow have the audacity to think you are doing much better than the U.S. ?
Most Americans here see what terrible state the U.S. is in but we can also see what terrible state Europe is in.
The difference is that Europeans for some reason are incredibly smug about the giant shit sandwich on their plate and feel the need to condescend to Americans that they somehow have it better with no guns for the most part.
I really hope France successfully fights back against Islam but based on their last thirty years of bending over, I don't see any real pushback happening.
