I think 1080i basically cheated using the Interlace method that CRTs used for years, doing half the screen at once.

If you don't like them, I understand, but I do. =)

=P you could just keep an eye out for an old dresser or a bookshelf at thrift stores/antique shops.

Heck, keep an eye out for a rear projection or an old console tv that quit and gut the console, lol. Heck, a while back, somebody down the street had a rear projection out on the curb for free, but I didn't have a way to get it home safely, lol (I didn't have my truck, and I live on a hill)

yeah, but the problem is for the weight of the one CRT, you could probably ship a half dozen LCDs.

Half a plasma tv, though, lmfao.

no I know what you're talking about, though it never bothered me.

You could always tell when one was turned on, even when it was muted.

I'm sorry they gave you problems, though.

depends on the tv. I've mentioned it once or twice, but my fiance's mother had a CRT that was 1080i/1080p (can't remember). weighed a ton, but it looked nice, and the tube meant it actually had room for halfway decent speakers in the case, lol

lol, fiance's mother had a 1080i(1080p? Can't remember) CRT in the mid-two thousands...had a nice picture, admittedly weighed a ton like you pointed out. Even cheap sets were reliable, though. LCD/LED are fine, I just liked the CRTs a little better. I wont deny some of that is nostalgia-goggles, but If I could find a hi-def CRT anymore, I'd buy it in a minute.

don't feel bad, My fiance's mother had an actual HD CRT and she had to put it in hock, then never got it out. Pissed me off so bad...If I'da known she didn't have the money, I would have gone and got it out myself...

Could you imagine any other industry being so unimaginably narcissistic and spiteful to its customer.

Journalism...Politics...Hollywood...

...you know... the sad part is instead of making it an assassin's creed game, they could have made a new game, set it in modern times, and had a black man somehow learn the ways of the samurai from an old man, trying to keep the old ways alive. could have done all sorts of things with that, maybe even started a new ip the way capcom did when their RE:4 concept strayed too far from the rezzy series.(Devil May Cry started out as a prototype for RE4).

...But because they're marxists, they can't do that, no...they have to inject their politics into something that's already popular and call everyone who says it's shit a racist, because, let's face, it's all they have...

Maybe you'll find yourself among people like you, him, her or them. (sic)

...aaaaannnddd another example of racists with a guilty conscience...

Ironically, the left wishes he was 100% of what they claim he is...

Half of their attacks on him were them practically begging him to be an authoritarian... Ten to nothing, if he had gone full Mousolini on their asses, they would have been practically slobbering on his penny loafers, and happily (not fearfully, happily) doing so...

in theory you could find an exploit that overrode the circuit, assuming the battery circuit isn't read-only, but it would be so piecemeal that it wouldn't be worth the hassle.

they'd be better off going after us the old-fashion way at that point... "car accidents" and the like...

cell phones

that would be tricky, especially with how this operation was (officially) undertaken. the pagers/walkie-talkies/solar panels in question were intercepted before they reached hezbollah, and physical explosives were implanted in the devices. I dunno if you've ever opened up a modern cellphone before, but there isn't enough room to fit a fart in one of them, let alone a wad of explosives and a detonator.

on the other hand, lipo/lion batteries are vulnerable to catching fire/exploding if the charging circuit fails for some reason, so in theory, you could simply hack the device using an exploit in the security, causing it to become a firebomb. All well and good, but which device to you target? the iphone 10? the samsung galaxy S23? some low-level knockoff? there's too many phone variants out there, so unless you find some major bug that affects 90% of phones to exploit, spread over (in some cases) five years or more, it's going to be like playing whack-a-mole with an eyepatch. And even then, the one example I can think of of a phone heating up so much it burst into flames, the man who owned it had enough time to remove it from his pocket and drop it. Not every one will, but enough will that even if you had some sort of super exploit, a good chunk of your targets would get away unscathed.

I'm not saying they can't do this, mind you, I'm saying it would be supremely difficult, and likely you'd be better off employing other methods if you were going to pull something like this off...
