This coming off the 'type 1 type 2' bs from Oblivion but I've noticed this as I am currently playing both Fallout 4 and Skyrim Aniversary edition on and off.

In Fallout 4 I have a female character, because it doesn't really affect the game, I don't care about the companions beyond perks they give and mostly play it to create the ultimate settlements/skyscraper fortresses.

In Skyrim, no matter what race I pick, Dunmer, Redguard, Breton (though fuck being a High Elf) my character is always male, since I enjoy the story and quests and even the Harthfire marriage and kids aspect of it.

I started applying this to older games with player created characters, was ALWAYS a Male Shep in ME, ALWAYS Male in Fallout NV and 3, was always male in Dragon Age EXCEPT DA inquisition but that also dropped massively in writing quality.

Maybe I'm over thinking it, but I'm wondering if subconsciously this 'type 1/2' bs is also indicating how shit the writing and world building is since as players, the more invested we are in the world, the more we want to create a character like us in the game to play as including gender, just at peak performance lol.

Late getting this out as busy but still a good season. Isakai came back in force and a few good heavy hitters, as always disclaimer, I am human so haven't watched everything and not fully caught up with every one of the shows listed but at least past 3 episodes on each. Without futher a do:

The Heavy hitters:

Solo Levelling S2: They went HARD this season, spectacular fights nearly every episode, the MC already at the 'I'm him' stage plus him collecting bodies, literally, for his army.

Shangri-la Frontier S2 Cour 2: Just the start of this season with the showcase of the move armageddon to now we in the pro leagues, it's still a fun ride especially for gamer weebs.

Re Zero S3: It's back and still brutal as fuck in deaths only now some of the bad guys get to die horribly too.

Zenshu I put this new one here as it feels like a passion project for anime artists, an animation artist dies at work and wakes up in a fictional world she once saw as a kid, only she has the power to draw scenes from OTHER work to help her like Valley of the Wind. It's nice just seeing childhood anime scenes be displayed in this work.

Dr Stone: Science Future: Senku returns only he's travelling to America so you know what that means...guns in the stone world! lol.

Isakai zone

Headhunted to another world: from Salaryman to big four!: A looked over but highly skilled salaryman is summoned by the Demon Lord to be his new General. What I like about this is he's summoned BECAUSE of his skills in our world showing the most powerful skill in any world, understanding logistics!

I'm a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, so I might as well try mastering magic: Nothing spectacular, guy wakes up in a fantasy world in the body of a young noble, learns he can use magic and makes ut his focus. It's just average and good filler anime.

The Daily life of a middle aged online shopper in another world: The title speaks for itself but what I like about this is: A: inventive use of his shopping ability like using a magic tool in this world to make biofuel for his vehicles and generators B: He fucks the catgirl.

Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of all time: Our MC gets caught in the path of an illegal summoning so unable to return home, the goddess gives him a new body and the powers to create using magic. What stands out is that the goddess was smart and planning in that she gave the MC a blessing effectively giving him a tutorial mode to reduce danger for a while and plants him a year BEFORE the guys who were summonded.

The Red Ranger becomes an adventurer in another world Title speaks for itself only this ranger runs of the power of relationships so lots of marriage and friendship jokes in his moves plus main girl has very big plot..

Aquired taste

I may be a guild receptionist, but I'll solo any biss to clock out on time: Channeling the feeling of every support and healer main,her nice job is being ruined by adventurers unable to take down a boss resulting in overtime for her so she gets a disguise and onshots the bosses the weaklings can't cope with so she can clock out!

I've read the manga shows:

As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll use my appraisal skill to Rise in the world cour 2: this is more focusing on the actual war now and battle tactics but a few good character moments. I know the MC can get annoying for some with his over reaction so I can recommend two other mangas for that which are similar but less annoying 'Shock face mc' trope.

Tsumasho: Off the bat, pedo pajet this is NOT a show for you! Now where was I, a family unfortunately loses their wife/mother and just collapses as she was the emotional pillar for them, the father and daughter live together but withdrawn from the world. Till one day a young girl comes to their door and says she's the reincarnation of their wife/mother. Haven't caught up but if it adapts well from the original it's a VERY well done story dealing with moving on from a loss.

The GOOD shit

Dandadan: yeah this one came in HARD this season, from the great intro from Creepy Nuts, solid outro, the fantastic visuals, soundtrack, comedy, aliens and spirts after your 'banana' and balls, a character making me appreciate the GILF tag and despite ALL of this, its a high school romance. Just give this a try as you'll probably enjoy the madness.

Shangri-la Frontier S2: it's back still as good as ever with one episode just being a boss fight, a mecha game being rge focus of 3 episodes and some comedy gold moments in the most accurate depiction of gamers anywhere.

Re Zero S3 Cour 1: welcome back onto the pain train motherfuckers! Dear god does our boy continue to suffer in this as the deaths in the early episodes were dark as fuck. Still one of the best isekai out there at least in top 5.

Aquired taste:

Dan Machi S5: Bell has been a lot more likable for me since he got his shit rocked by a minotaur in S3, now he deals with the literal goddess of yanderes in this season.

Arifureta S3: it's not bad, but this feels a set up season unless this is two cour season, lots of things being put in place for a final showdown.

The most notorious talker runs the world's greatest clan: the art isn't anything to praise but what pulls me to this show is he is REALLY Machiavellian, two teammates try to ditch him stealing the parties money, sell their ass into slavery. A guy tried to poison you so they didn't have to pay you for a quest? Gouge out his eye and threaten to kill him in front of his family unless he pays up. I enjoy a not taking this bs type of mc.

Demon Lord 2099: this will only be early impressions, but I like the idea of the Demon lord reviving but finding his power now easily matched by a combination of magic and technology.

Average/Mid selection

Seirei Gensouki S2: It didn't improve from S1, not that it's bad it's just, meh. You can easily watch in the background and still guess the story correctly

Let this Grieving Soul retire: I can see what they were going for (and focus with some of the shots of one if the characters) but personal take, this comes off as a less funny copy of Eminence in shadow, just watch that.

The Healer who was Banished from his party is in fact the strongest: It's mid, nothing bad but no real pull behind it.

That's the list, I did watch I'll become a Villainess who goes down in History but can't make my mind up about it, I've just read and watched better versions. I haven't seen Ranma 1/2 so can't comment on it but feel free to comment on what's mentioned or add a bunch I KNOW I missed.

It just appeared in my feed recently probably because we're getting close to Christmas, it's a scene from Terry Pratchett's The Hogfather (which I highly recommend watching along with the colour of magic and going postal) starts at 1:50 and Death just highlights the importance of belief and faith for humans.

I think it's very apt as this is what the left have been doing to fantasy in the West for years, by injecting politics into franchises, shortening childhood innocence by applying gender bullshit to them and using them as props in their own campaigning, they're robbing children of being able to live with fairytale and fantasy, the little lies of life, so that we can believe the bigger lies later on like mercy, justice, duty etc.

I think this is the difference between the left and right currently, the left abandoned fantasy to always live in 'reality' but because of that there is no belief inside them. It's why they think we'd go door to door killing them since we won because why WOULD mercy exist, it isn't a thing in reality. Got some spare time and needed a break from the sodium distribution from the return of the American Emperor so thought I'd share some stuff I've been reading.

But unlike doing lists like in the past, I want you to say if theres a genre or story type you're interested in reading and I'll see if I can recommend you something good. Like if you want a story on revenge, regression, fantasy, sci fi, comedy, that has great art etc and I'll try to include how often it is updated or if it's completed.

A bit of disclosure, I don't really read romance, horror or slice of life so might need to ask others on that.

They claim it's because they meed time to 'polish the game' but I think it's more they realise that this game could kill the company in it's present state.

Black history month, I think they're still woke pandering even though they know it's a live bomb like Concord in the making.

Yeah this is vtuber related but this is also leads into discussion of how bad YouTube's strike system is and how it's being abused by malicious actors.

This probably began with her clip channel, a channel just dedicated to making clips out of her stream, being struck down out of nowhere. She herself said on stream she won't fight it conventionally because she would have to give her address as part of the counter claim so she's getting Vshojo her agency to help get it back.

Fast foward to a few hours ago, as she's still hosting a subathon on Twitch, her entire MAIN Youtube channel gets terminated and Vshojo lawyers are now getting involved.

I only have two explanations on this:

1. There's a malicious actor within YouTube targeting vtubers for some reason (a lot have been getting random bans for a while) and decided to ban her channel on a Friday so it wouldn't be resolved till Monday (similar to what Sony did with Helldivers 2 PSN requirement)

2. A malicious actor REALLY wants to dox Ironmouse and is trying to use YouTube's copyright system to get it in the counter claim.

The reason she's avoiding giving her address is she has fucking Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) meaning she can't simply leave ger home if some freak learns her address and stalks her plus she lives with her now getting elderly parents. But this will probably blow up more since she's THE biggest vtuber streamer (nearly the biggest female streamer) in the world so already the pressure is building against Youtube for this.

Maybe this'll go to a court case where Youtube is forced to defend banning a streamer with CVID with no strikes or maybe on Monday her channels get restored and someone is secretly fired, either way this is probably the biggest example of the war on vtubers.

Edit: adding this as a note on the original than a new post, as of 23/09/2024 both her main and VOD channels are back, seems like the banning of her main on Friday WAS like Sony and Helldivers 2 and they immediately returned all her channels back on Monday. Doubt the people responsible will be punished though.

Anyway good season overall, a surprise standout and one that gave my brain a vaction. Actually I read the Manga

A journey through another world: Raising kids while adventuring: this is just good male role model vibes where a guy Isakai'd becomes the caring older brother to two orphaned young saiyans, just a pallette cleanser show

Why does nobody remember me in this world: Humanity had a war with magical beings, won and live in peace but some a hole flipped the table and reset the world to where Humanity didn't have the hero that turned the tide, with everyone forgetting him but our MC so becomes the one that needs to help turn the tide in this war. It's ok but nothing big budget.

Failure Frame: I became the strongest and Annihilated Everything with low-level spells: WARNING, heavy use of cgi, it's actually used quite well but I know this is a turn off for some. The main thing that keeps my interest in the series is the MC as going in you thing 'another beta guy exiled for weak abilities but turns out they're cracked' but no he had a psycho switch in him the whole time and he can manipulate, kill no hesitation. Plus while everyone else lusts over the main girl, he's 'revenge first, pussy later' when she actually gives him the green pass.

That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime S3 cour 2: I prefer this festival arc as you get more characters coming in, more development in Tempest and character development all round

The heavy hitters

No longer allowed in another world: following the example of Ya boy Kongming, this takes author Osamu Dazai and Isakai's him and like the original, he just REALLY wants to die. Thought it'd be a bit of a one trick joke but damn did this have great characterisation. Episode 8 was a masterpiece to itself.

Oshi no Ko S2: still top tier quality exploring the entertainment industry and while the opening not as good in my opinion to Season one, still a banger.

Sussy Sisters (should've included Oshi no Ko on this)

Days with my stepsister: actually just a very good story about two strangers now having to live with each other and understand their feelings in this new dynamic.

Alya sometimes Hides her feelings in Russian: Our main girl is a tsundere who says her true feelings in Russian as she's in Japan so who there knows Russian? Our MC so he got a girl acting cold in public but saying in Russian how she'd like to toss him down and french kiss him. Also his sister a bit of a freak.

Aquired taste

Wistoria - wand and sword: from the mind behind Black Clover, this is very well animated story as the one guy that can't use magic in magic school but literally built different. I put it here though as the MC might turn people off as though he can go badass, his whimpy scenes can be annoying.

My dear friend Nokotan: Welcome to the deer world motherfuckers! Everything is deer and you will be deer too hahaha! (This written by 1 braincell, rest of brain took a vaction). Studio Wit KNEW what they wanted with this series and the fact that intro song was as catchy as hell BEFORE it even released, you see why they put their full effort into this than Suicide Squad, speaking of which..

Suicide Squad Isakai: I kinda got bored and dropped it, just ok and other than the Morri ed, it's just average.

The Strongest magician in the Demon lord's army was a Human: liking the story, a human raised in secret by the best magican in the demon lords army and wants to make a world where both humans and demons can live in peace but has to hide his human identity as well as resistance from both sides.

Tower of God S2: this is an improvement over season 1 but still lacking in some explanation and development to get higher, a bit more work and it'll be a lot better.

Vtuber legend: How I went Viral after forgetting to turn off my steam: this is the most ACCURATE portrayal of vtubers in ANY media, so much so I think they watched a vtuber and just went off that. Growing hypothesis, they were watching Bao the Whale just toned down the gooning for the anime...

After the COLOSSAL failure of Concord, you'd think they'd look over the games still in production and cut their losses than report another flop? Nope! Looks like they are 'not worried' as they have a NEW LIVE SERVICE GAME that was annouced a year ago, headed by an AC veteran and was as well received as sandpaper toliet paper.

The problem that is often forgotten is that Sony is a Multinational conglomerate which means no matter how much their media divisions suck, the other sides STILL headquartered in Japan are making money with telecommunications, engineering, finance etc.

And what pisses me off the most is that their entertainment side is asset rich just with EXTREMELY poor management. If they weren't around the trans and drug freaks of California and back in Asia, they'd probably still know sex sells so make your characters ATTRACTIVE. Concord might've lasted longer than 10 days if players at least had something good to look at.

Then there's how they are handling PC, just this year alone they managed to take an extremely successful, gaining a cult following game with Helldivers 2 and kill it overnight by demanding PSN requirement to play which locked out many countries that CAN'T get PSN then backtracked but left in shitty community managers. They grab failure from the jaws of victory.

And last part of my rant is Crunchyroll, when anime is getting more popular than Western entertainment, why do not improve your service with better UI, a tagging system like they use for pirate manga sites and even comment sections that would make people not feel inclined TO pirate?

So to celebrate a day that often gets overlooked to the female equivalent, what are some of the best representations of fathers you've seen in media?

Anime My daughter left the nest and Returned an S Rank adventurer: Belgrieve or 'the red ogre' is a perfect example of a positive role model I can think of in Anime. He's strict but fair, patient when he needs to be but not a push over, knows when to be emotional and when to think with a clear head. He's such a good role model that even former enemies switch to following his leads and former friends who fell off the right path immediately get back on the path just knowing He's around.

Western Media: I think the diluge of propaganda over the years is making my mind a bit blank on this unfortunately. Had to delve into my brain for this:

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (1990s): James Avery played uncle Philip PERFECTLY, he was the greatest role model of a good Black father figure so no wonder they character assassinated him in the 'remake'

What are you're picks as to save it going to long, I should mention there are quite a few 'regression father stories' in Manhwa too where a father who makes mistakes raising their child (usually daughter) regresses in time to raise them properly, it's a genre to itself at this point.

The Banished Former Hero lives as he pleases: tried reading this a while back....dropped it after 2 chapters because it was bland. The anime ain't different in fact only thing good about it was Outro by AIMI

Chillin in Another World with level 2 super cheat powers: in comparison to the above, THIS is a lot better, lot more light hearted and fun tone (though the MC has a 'rage of quiet man moment) fun op, I realise between this and Eminence in shadow, I may have a thing for voluptuous wolf girls....

As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll use my appraisal skill to Rise in the world: before you go 'another Isakai', I'd give this a shot especially if you loved Realist Hero or recruiting in Slime. The MC isn't powerful but can see the talents of others and recruits those talented to improve his domain. Can't praise it enough and one of the best father's in Anime too.

Grandpa and Grandma turn young again: This is concentrated wholesomeness, as couple been together for 70 years thanks to a golden apple on their orchard gain the ability to turn young again, but still retain their grandparent way of living. It's just sweet to watch and makes you happy.

The heavy hitters

Mushoku Tensei jobless reincarnation S2 cour 2: shits hitting the fan again, we had another 'Turning point' episode. It's just the king of Isakai, excellent animation, story and va work like this scene REALLY showing how a person trapped in another world might react thinking there's no way back.

Konosuba, God's blessing on this wonderful world S3: the patron saint of gender equality is back and it's just fun with the gang back together.

Kaiju No. 8: This one you can tell is getting HEAVY investment to be a longer franchise, from the great animation and music, op and ed the story has the right mix of humour, action and character moments to watch

Bartender Glass of Gods: This is apparently one of two old shows coming back this season, they REALLY put their all in the animation quality for this show and it's a perfect nightcap anime, something after a long day at work to turn on and watch

Spice and Wolf: Merchant meets the Wise Wolf: the other returner and making my 'wolf girl' problem worse. They focused hard on animation, va work, music from the op alone it's fantastic to see this return in a proper way

Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc: the quality is still top tier, all that needs to be said on this series.

That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime S3: warning the first episodes are mainly talking and meetings to provide set up, THEN you get the payoff and realise 'Rimaru's side is OP as fuck!', good to see it back and hopefully regularly but sane quality as I want to eventually get to see our boy Zegion in his prime...

Tsukimichi Moonlit fantasy S2 cour 2: I WISH I could put this at the same level as Slime (especially since the manga came out before) but it hasn't been given the same time to establish itself so still aquired taste. Does the same as slime as slow build up but when the MC realises 'oh the goddess isn't looking', shit kicks off FAST lol

Viral Hit: Korea really portraying their schools having a bullying epidemic lol, but in this one a bullying victim learns how to fight thanks to a mysterious YouTube channel and streams his own fights with bullies to earn money.

Re:Monster: this is very early slime in the way the MC is Isakai'd as a monster and gains powers by consuming others but in this one, well...

The Irregular at Magic School S3: The return of the op MC with a sister who's favourite song is 'Sweet home Alabama'. It's enjoyable if you like an OP MC and the this series always have great op and ed

Not seen enough of so first impressions

Wind Breaker: The fight scene in episode one was fantastic alone so I'll try to watch more of it later

I didn't see Black Butler or Train to the End of the World as well as others as didn't have time, but I'd like to DISHONOURABLELY mention The Misfit if Demon King Academy as wtf are they doing with the CGI!?! I stopped watching after the production issues last time but holy crap I have no intention of picking it back up if they go Seven deadly Sins level of bad in animation!

That is recount territory as I'm hearing it was just around a 400 vote difference but with Abbot supporting the incumbent and Trump not being involved at all, doubt it'll change.

The good news to take from this is NOT to get blackpilled as has been shouted by the media cronies, a 'far right gun YouTuber' with little political experience and has video like this managed to SERIOUSLY challenge an establishment crony.
