I've been watching streams this morning on the Ottawa "Freedom Convoy" protest and what I've seen should be a wake up call to everyone.
What's happening is the most pathetic thing I think I've ever seen in my life. The protest lost. Nothing was achieved. The truckers are leaving and the police are cracking down...
Yet, the crowd is CHEERING. They're clapping, laughing, dancing, and cheering as they lose. They've achieved nothing and have probably made it impossible to do anything like this again, yet they're happy.
It's incredible.
I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before. I'd say I'm disappointed but I'm really not. I knew the protest was a failure from the start and that the masses are idiots without good leadership. However the cheering for defeat took me by surprise. I don't get it. I don't think I'm capable of understanding it.
Is this how far this bastardized and mongrelized excuse for humanity has fallen?

Rule 16 was and is an abomination and must be fixed. There is no sitewide rule requiring these stringent adherences to communistic speech conventions.
Half-assed optics will not save this place from a purge if the powers that be so desire for it.
All we accomplish by limiting our discussions into spartan molds of "acceptable speech" is creating avenues for degenerate drivel to take root in the gaps between linguistic interpretation.
Good, honest discussion by legitimate users is currently being stymied. Multiple high profile users have copped sudden bans for speech that was previously acceptable. This is an unarguable point.

About nine months ago this lifeboat came into existence following massive purges by Reddit admins against non-establishment conforming materials. Those purges never ended, which is why this particular forum has become the overall bastion for KIA2/GG materials.
On the creation of this site we were presented a set of 16 rules which we, the users, were questioned about. Overwhelming we found that the rules were overbearing and redundant.
Many of these rules are redundant, unnecessary, or bad.
The most obvious of which is that there are THREE rules covering NSFW/pornographic material. It was pointed out by myself as well as numerous other users that these were redundant and pointless, and the assumption was that these would be changed as the rules were simply temporary.
It's nine months on.
Those are only the most egregiously obvious.
The reason I make this post today is that our rules are so open-ended and confusing that even our illustrious mods have no idea WTF they mean.
I was personally banned for a day for a rule 15 violation after which u/DomitiusOfMassilia/ admitted he misunderstood what the rule meant. Immediately after I watched him make the same mistake with another. Now, a week after, I notice that the majority of action is taken under rules 2, 15, and 16. Almost all content removals are based on slurs/bad language/insults.
This post is largely upvoted while Dom's statement of removal is largely downvoted. That's just one example. This is becoming far too common. Please do not make the same mistakes that murdered KIA1.
Note that I am not calling out Dom specifically. I think the rules themselves are dogshit tier and must be fixed. I like this community, even if I do think you're a bunch of faggots. And goddamnit u/TheImpossible1 there's no women involved here so kindly fuck off.
Can we please have a serious discussion about our rules and the impacts that they have, and FIX THEM? We do not need SIXTEEN RULES, especially when it's clear not even our mods understand them all.
I'm going to keep this somewhat brief and simple so as to make sure the point is understood.
What is fiat, and why is it important to understand?
"Fiat" refers to a certain top level monetary basis whereby the value of currency is based around for lack of a better word, confidence. Also know as speculation.
First, let's look at what fiat ISN'T.
In ye olden days currency was backed by physical or specific quantities. It varied from gold and silver, to gunpowder, even so abstract as physical labor hours. Whatever it was backed by, it was backed by some specific and quantifiable asset.
The simplest version was of course the gold standard.
1$ = 1oz of gold. (Not a real exchange, just an example.)
What this meant was that the government acted as a guarantor for the mercantilism of its citizens. Money is issued into circulation as backed by proportional physical assets of a nation or state. The wealth of a nation was decided quite literally by the projection of their economic might.
It's not quite so simple, but that's the basic idea.
So what's that whole fiat thing then? What does this matter? Wtf are you talking about?
The reason WSB is called Wall Street Bets is right in the name. Our financial markets have become glorified casinos. However, it's so, so much worse. Those in charge of the markets: The Federal Reserve, Wall Street, deep rooted pseudonational conglomerates; they are the House, and the House always wins.
Value is created or destroyed out of thin air as it benefits those in control of the system.
When the FED prints a trillion dollars to feed and inflate the market, where do you think that that value comes from?
They're betting against the common folk. They're betting against your potential. Shaving away an ounce of flesh to indulge their excess.
I say it so flamboyantly because there is no value there. It's all fake. An illusion. It's a house of cards that stands only as long it's safely tucked away out of sight.
Every dollar you own is only as valuable as the confidence in the system that issues it.
That statement is the reason why the Great Depression happened.
The problem of Bitcoin
So Bitcoin. What does that have to do with anything?
Bitcoin is a fiat currency.
The value is entirely codependent on a system of confidence in the system itself having value.
If that sounds like a tautology that's because it is a tautology.
Bitcoin has been shooting up in value over the past few years. "Bitcoin is the future!" people say. Sure. Maybe. But what do you think changes?
That it has grown so fast and continues to grow to excessive proportions should terrify you. What that means is that it's taking the confidence that was once given to other fiat currency. It's not some cycle of infinite growth.
Should Bitcoin grow to eclipse other currencies it will become a captured asset under a centralized system. It was created entirely to replace national fiat for an international fiat. Those who control the exchanges will control the financial foundation.
How many bitcoins are there total? How many are held out of circulation? Who do you think is buying them to support such a massive growth of valuation? What happens in 20 years when the global banking apparatus owns the majority of bitcoin as well as the major exchanges?
Be warned.
You hear about things like the "Great Reset" a lot these days. Be aware that these plans have been underway since before most of your were born. Bitcoin is not something outside of that plan.
We either end fiat-based policy or we continue to live as slaves.
