The irony of calling yourself The Independent and just parroting Marxist propaganda.

But calling TERFs 'white supremacists' is a new one. Let's see how that works out.

I have suspicions that Silicon Valley is afraid that, as mostly white male million/billionaires, they'll be BLM's next target for reparations, so they're trying to turn the public opinion against them, and perhaps even ensure a Trump victory.

You can tell who is likely a Marxist by how they react to the statement that "the free exchange of information and ideas is the lifeblood of a liberal society".

And yeah, I know Marxists and commies in my personal life. Freedom of speech was the first western value and human right they opposed when they joined that ideology.

More seriously, I'm curious about the First Amendment implications here.

I can see how if you assault a black person while shouting "I hate you niggers!" convicting you of a hate crime wouldn't violate your First Amendment rights since in that case it's the assault you are being convicted for, not your speech; your speech is merely used as evidence of your motives for the assault.

But in this case, while vandalism is illegal, defacing a political artwork could be considered speech. I could see how you'd still get convicted for defacing property and have to pay damages, but I wonder how a hate crime charge would hold against First Amendment rights here. Not to mention BLM isn't even a race, it's a political movement. Seems like the city is reaching pretty far to punish speech it doesn't agree with.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure a good lawyer would have no problem showing that the city isn't charging anyone else who painted illegal political graffiti and is targeting this couple specifically because they opposed BLM. Maybe the city even "approved" of the BLM 'mural' after it was painted, maybe even after it was removed by the couple, which would be evidence of bias by the city in favor of BLM. And let's not kid ourselves, that 'mural' covered road markings, which I'm pretty violates some kind of code or laws, so the city couldn't approve it in the first place.

Not a lawyer, but these charges just seem pretty wonky. I'd be curious to know what a legal expert would say.

I can believe it. I went to school in Europe for a year and the violent kids were all from either the balkans, the middle east or north africa. Basically, cultures where violence is deemed much more acceptable, including in response to perceived disrespect.

Not that the local kids didn't fight, but you'd have to seriously insult them and ignore multiple warnings to stop before they'd hit you. The 'violent kids' I'm talking about above would be set off by small things like imagining you looked at them weird, you not believing something they said, or you refusing to do a "favor" for them.

They were also acting very inappropriate towards girls, bullied students over their religion, and openly mocked people with disabilities in public. Again, behaviors you didn't see at all (or to a much lesser degree) from the local kids.

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of them had joined ISIS when that was still a hot thing a few years ago, or committed rape. They just seemed to have all the criteria to get worse like that.

Unfortunately, the administration couldn't do much, apparently. Which only enabled them.

This piece of shit needs to be shipped back to his country.

I wonder what he'd have done if the victim was a girl instead? Yeah actually don't answer that, I can picture it.

Thumbs up to those who stood up to the insanity and didn't back down. This is the correct course of action.

I can believe it was engineered and released accidentally. That would explain the cover-up by China in the early months of the outbreak.

That's what I believe. So far I don't think someone created the virus and unleashed it intentionally for some nefarious purpose, or any plot like that. I just think that Marxists realized this epidemic was an opportunity for them, and they're now using it to reach their goals.

Marxists in academia and in the media, doing anything they can to destabilize western nations so they can impose communism.

Their current strategy has been for a while now to push those crazy theories about equality, in order to instigate a civil war against whites/western culture. Radicals on the left are eating that shit up and acting like the useful idiots Lenin talked about.

Also the various communist tactics they use to silence opponents..

I wouldn't lump all Democrats into this, although obviously the radical left votes Democrat and plenty of Democrat politicians are playing into the hands of the Marxists (knowingly or not).

COVID-19 is just another opportunity for the Marxists to damage the economy in the hopes that it will be easier to replace it with communism. The fear-mongering and hypocrisy coming from the left about this epidemic says a lot, in my opinion.

COVID-19 is grossly exaggerated by the left and [this exaggeration] is likely a plot to destroy the economy so it can be rebuilt under communism.

This is hilarious and the kind of stuff we should be doing more of. Even if they don't call you out, deep down it gets them thinking.

Yes, let's push muscularity as the new beauty standards for women, Polygon. Instead of dieting, women should now go to the gym 4 times a week and maybe even take steroids.

What happened to appreciating all body types, Polygon? Oh right, athletic, muscular women are probably the sexual fantasy of Polygon writers.

What's the context? Is this a roadblock, did they approach a parked car...? Where is it, and what kind of questions were they asking (audio quality is pretty bad)?

It's crazy in any case.

Your comment made me suddenly realize just how crazy things have become. 15 years ago, a headline like this would have been insanity.

I played video games back in the days when their main opposition was the likes of Jack Thompson, claiming they turned kids into mass shooters. And he was considered crazy by gamers already.

Then he was defeated and went away and we thought we had won and games were finally safe from stupid, baseless accusations that they harm and corrupt society. But today, publishers remove the OK hand sign from games on the ground that it promotes the KKK and we're not even surprised in the slightest.

If you work around these people, ALWAYS keep meticulous records and NEVER interact with them one on one.

This is good advice and something I learned the hard way unfortunately. However, it won't help you when your boss is biased and believes them just because.

I was once fired unexpectedly because a feminist colleague was making up bullshit complaints about me behind my back. My boss never addressed it with me, so I had no idea it was going on and I had no opportunity to defend myself.

So just to add more advice:

  • Be prepared to be fired unexpectedly. Keep your resume up to date, your options open, etc. and don't make any big commitments that could cost you a lot if you get fired soon.

  • Know your rights.

  • Don't trust anyone.

  • As the comment above says, keep records of everything. If something was said to you orally, shoot the person an e-mail soon after to ask them to confirm what they said. "Hey, I just wanted to make sure I understood you. You told me to do X and you'd do Y, right? If not, please respond to this e-mail to let me know".

  • Don't let issues linger. If you feel something is going on (e.g. your boss seems to like you less and less for a reason that escapes you), address it immediately.

  • Don't give people dirt on you, or anything they could hold over your head later. My boss offered me an illegal arrangement, which I refused.

  • Keep dirt on people (SJW colleagues, superiors, the company...). I know it sounds scummy, but you need ammo against their dishonest tactics. Hopefully you won't have to use it.

  • Play the victim against SJWs and discredit them early. Use their tactics. SJW colleague makes an off-color joke? Complain about sexual harassment, even if you know it's just a joke and you aren't offended. SJW colleague tells a black colleague that she supports Affirmative Action? Reassure your colleague you don't think he's a diversity hire, you have a great opinion of him as a professional, and you'll support him if he wants to complain to HR about the SJW's comments.

I worked with a feminist intern who wasted a lot of time making sure anything she wrote was "inclusive" when nobody asked her to. When told to cut it out, she'd say shit like lack of inclusive writing is the reason girls stick to "female" jobs.

She herself had first gone to college in a female-dominated field, dropped out, then went back in another female-dominated field. But of course, it was easier to blame her lack of ambition or lack of interest for a field like finance or physics on the absence of inclusive writing in society... By that logic I guess it's also society's and my parents' fault that I'm not an astronaut, if only they had just told me little boys who don't pay attention in physics class can go to the moon like everyone else!

She was insufferable to work with for a variety of other reasons. Mainly because she had an attitude that everything had to be done the way that made things easier for her, and if anyone refused to accommodate her she'd take it as a personal attack and complain to the boss.

From what I know, Little Miss StrongWoman "It's sexist that women give up their career more often than men to raise their kids!" went on maternity leave during her internship two years ago and hasn't worked since.

Move back to Africa then.

Oh wait, he won't because he's pretty happy to live in America after all. "Slavery was terrible, but it benefited me because it's the reason I live in America today" is something people like him will never admit.

Trump should call their bluff and strike a deal with various African countries to take back any African-Americans who want to go move back there. Plane ticket is free but they have to relinquish their US citizenship and never step foot in America again. Call it reparations for slavery since that's where they'd be today if it hadn't happened. I bet less than 100 people across the country would take him up on that offer.

I have no problem with legitimate complaints of racism and discrimination. If they can make a case that they're treated worse than other Americans, then by all means, they should go ahead. It's the argument that "We have it bad today because of slavery" that is dishonest.
