i'm not American so i'd like to ask Americans how Portland ended up with so many crazy people more than anywhere else?

Oregon has always had weird rules. When I was in grade school at Shedd elementary, they outlawed the word or mimicking of a gun. So we had to make new motions. Later on I realized many of them were rather sexual, but I meant it as a gun.
This was a fairly backwoods area of the state. The school librarian, principal and others held the same positions at other elementary schools, and the junior high. I had to take a bus from Halsey to get to the school.
On the other hand, they had alan assembly a week with whoever came in to do a show. There were magicians, a roller skating horse, the author of the Bearenstain Bears, and several others. We just assumed school was like this all the time. The mime was a personal friend of one of the students so he did the show for free.
Imagine a place where amazing multi room arcade bars are a thing.
So that's how everyone grew up, weird rules, and attempts to thwart them. Then weird stuff happening all the time to the point it becomes normal. Now imagine Antifa got ahold of people like that. A screaming desteuctive mob two blocks away from a giant book store seems normal. Being told this shouldn't be happening is considered weird, and people get defensive. I've heard people talk about Antifa the same way you would talk about a sports team, and the proud boys are the big rival team.
