I remember on the Song of Ice and Fire subreddit a guy told me that black people were in Europe in the Middle Ages so game of thrones needed more diversity. Now I know that some black people did venture into Europe then but to whine about diversity in Game of Thrones is absurd. Although now I turn a deaf ear to anyone who complains about diversity in a show. You can always not watch.

Black washing is ridiculous and honestly it shows how lazy these directors are. There is tons of folklore from every continent. Adapt some African legends. But I guess it’s easier to take King Arthur and race/gender swap it.

white people also lived in southern africa to a surprising degree (before colonisation), descendants of traders, shipwrecked mariners etc and in north africa slaves.

But you will never see diversity in an african village on tv.
