It allowed such a large amount of grey matter to develop around our mid-brain, which inevitably lead to far higher intelligence. We're an altricial creature, not a precocial like most they list off. Which means we're far more capable of a higher level of thinking, as well as, a myriad of other vastly complicated thought processes. Furthermore, we're very clearly omnivores by nature.
