Ever since I discovered Hardcore History I really appreciated Dan Carlin's take on both history and current events through his podcasts. Recently however, on his Common Sense podcast, Dan let loose a TDS rant that I didn't think was possible for someone I generally considered fairly moderate. In retrospect, he was a journalist at one point, and so probably leans to the left and things rather highly of the news, which we know to be full of bullshit now, especially when it comes to Trump.
His main argument seemed to be that Trump is a populist and authoritarian, and likens him to other historical figures who either were warnings, or the cause of, internal unrest (think Caesar or Hitler). He also made note that he trusted Biden more with nuclear launch codes than Trump, conveniently leaving out all the good Trump has done in the foreign policy realm that has actually de-escalated tensions around the world with some pretty trigger-happy countries.
What really gets me is that he completely left out all the things the Dems, and by extension the left, have done to destabilize and radicalize the populace and all the violence that, while yes is occurring under Trump's administration, is being caused by leftists and not right wingers.
I'm constantly confused how these supposed "educated" people can't juxtapose the dehumanizing, vilifying, ostracizing, silencing, threatening, labeling, calls to violence, etc. that's happening right now with Trump and his supporters with the Nazi's of WW2 — or the Red Guard of Maoist China — through the use of pernicious propaganda.
Now, hear me out. I'm not at all comparing what happened then to a group of people to what's happening now. I'm talking specifically about the divisive propaganda methods that Hitler/Goebbels, and Mao, promulgated over the course of a few years to paint a picture of an "enemy" to the people.
Some may say, "Well, there a big power difference. Trump is the President, he is power."
To which I'd have to ask if they're actually paying attention at all, or just insane.
He may be President, and have the backing of the Republican party, but let's look at the backing of his opposition — the Democrats.
Right now, the Democrats have nearly every large corporate entity in America, all of big tech, all of Hollywood & entertainment, influencers, nearly all of the mainstream media, all of academia, the UN, several other countries, the CCP, the medical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the International Criminal Court, the Generals in the US military, and current and former world leaders.
Do people on the left truly believe that the scales of power are tilted against them? That's rhetorical, by the way.
I'll once again reiterate, that I'm talking about the methods they use and the power each hold. I'm not comparing the millions of people left dead by the regimes and comparing their lives to current day conservatives.
Each day that goes by we see more and more incitement, cover-ups, misinformation, lies, excuses for violence, calls for violence, omissions, and censorship coming from the Democrats and the powers that back them.
The effects this has had are literally all around us right now.
Earlier today, Ron Paul had a stroke live during an interview. It was a gross and completely ghastly sight to behold. Within minutes of it being spread publicly we had blue checks on Twitter celebrating it, but being disappointed that he didn't die. Influencers with platforms that reach hundreds of thousands and in some cases millions of people, were lamenting that another human — who had done nothing wrong except have a different political opinion — had not died. This was met with huge amounts of people replying in agreeance and joining in on the macabre celebration of someone else's misery. Thankfully, there were still plenty of others who wandered into these rejoicements and quickly pointed out how gross and insane many of these people were. There's still one important fact however, Twitter did nothing that I had noticed to step in and stop it. It's become plainly obvious that for people on the left, supported by Democrats and their elite followers, we've now reached a point where it's socially acceptable to do such things without fear of consequences. The direct result of years of propaganda targeting one group while using all of the methods I've listed here.
If it's allowed to continue without more people deciding to use their voice to publicly say that it isn't acceptable, things will only continue to escalate until they reach some sort of inevitable climax.
Anyway, that was fun to write. It seems knowing history doesn't mean people are informed enough in current events to be able to see such obvious things.
