I assume most of us have been in something similar. I was a leftist for a long time but then I was demonized for being white, for being male for liking stuff most guys like in video games or movies. That if I object to being discriminated based on the color of my skin or gender I am suddenly racist? If I question filling kids with hormone blockers or be against kids in drag shows I am now transfobic. We are in a point in history were if you are pro free speech you are a fascist. If I question teaching boys that being a man is toxic I am a misogynist. If you even discuss the idea that man and women may be different on averages do to evolution and genetics you are labeled the worst things. I was not a Trump supporter but I ended up in so many freaking arguments where I was defending him that at one point I was yea like wtf I'll just support him now. I am a bit drunk and heavily depressed today, sorry for the rant.
Let me tell you how fucked up my current company discriminates, before COVID they put me and another guy to do tech venting for new hires, like face to face ask questions and get a reading if a candidate is worth it. I had one guy, young, I think 23-25, the guy was great, the job required linux, databases and networking so I got to talk to him since he was the youngest guy to ever come from HR, he told me about his setup at home, self build with a lot of cool stuff, passionate and friendly, he did well on the simulation test as well on the verbal one. Unfortunately for him he was a white male and the job went to a orange haired land whale woman who failed the tests and had a negative review for the face to face from both me and the other guy because she did not even know what linux was or how to run any commands, she said she worked hardware support but did not even understand the concept of RAID. She ended leaving for another company where she REFUSED to take the tech tests saying she does not know this stuff and they still took her, and she was a total bitch on top of all of that. For some reason I felt so connected to the guy they discarded do to diversity, he was so freaking similar to me years ago and he was so optimistic and friendly and innocent and he was a simple guy from a poor family. After that I HATED with a passion this diversity initiatives, you can't imagine the amount of hate I have for those who push for this.
Sabotage your company. But continue to study, improve and grow. Just don't give your best to the company where you are. We have huge economic power but we can't continue to help and contribute to the system. We have to sabotage it from the inside.
There was a commenter on the sub (he might be here as well; not sure) who went beyond that and would sabotage the company in such a way as it ended up financially benefiting him. His core insight was an average office job has enough downtime where you aren't expected to do anything that it's possible to work two jobs simultaneously if one employer lets you work remotely, and that working two such lower salary jobs is easier than working one job that pays twice the salary.
I will add to this concept and say that for most large companies it's so hard to hire and fire people that managers will tend to bend over backwards to try to get any amount of productivity out of you just so they don't have to go through that nightmare again. So even if you are utterly incompetent you can probably collect multiple paychecks simultaneously for months if not years. My boss recently called to tell me he fired someone who had been working at the company for six years because he literally had no idea what this person did or was supposed to be doing. Another manager friend constantly complains to me about an incompetent employee that he was trying to fire but for some reason can't.
That's the holy grail I think: be incompetent in such a way as you end up siphoning even more money away from the company/system than you otherwise would.
