Things is... was the guy an inmigrant or a citizen? cause if it's an immigrant specially from south america, an unnoficial road block means you are likely to get robbed or kidnapped. So even if it was 'his bad' it was a survival instict kicking in.

Either way, one must be an idiot to stop on a road block on the middle of the night.
