Old school method of RTV silicone molds and lead/tin. I was making copies for Warhammer back in the 90's. It was the only way to build a fantasy army if you weren't rich lol.
I've G'd the F O when GW said that and will continue not to support GW products until I see a change of heart from them. Warhammer in both Fantasy and 40k are some of my most-loved hobbies for the better part of the decade, but I can live without them.
If you mean rules, then better rule systems are already out there. Which one exactly you want depends what you like (or hate) about GW rules.
If you mean the lore... open source lore sounds terrible. Not worth compromising your principles over, but it is a loss. I would not call it "easily replacable."
40k/et al from GW has some of the shittiest rules for wargaming out there. The lore is what has always carried them and it is extremely dense. The Horus Heresy spans over 50 novels...
How will the Black Library respond to this push? All of their hard work over the years being shit-canned? I just don't see how they possibly retcon their entire premise to be SJW palatable without completely dunking their core business model.
It's laughable that GW is even coming close to taking this stance. Their IP is filled with some of those most disturbing violence (Entire Galaxy at Constant War) and sexually perversion (Slaanesh, Dark Elves).
I hate the fact that GW even has a stance on matters of politics. I don't care about a corporate political opinion because corporations cannot have opinions, only individuals can and I am 100% sure that there are folks working at GW that feel, like myself, that the company has no business commenting on anything outside the realm of their IP and the expansion of said IP.
Wokes keep screeching that everything has to be political. As soon as you ask if we could maybe just focus on building and playing with our plastic spacemen instead of commenting on social issues, they pipe up with "well ahksually.. something something ... Ghazgul Thraka ... Thatcher bad!!!". The fact that GW lampooned a public figure 30 years ago in a subtle and humorous way is all the justification the wokes need to beat you over the head with politics now it seems.
Seperating and compartmentalizing aspects of your life is how you maintain balance in your life. Hobby time is not "being-angry-about-politics" time. It's not "feeling-guilty-about-my-privilege" time or anything else the wokes demand in order for you to be 'virtuous' in their eyes. It's "painting-my-toy-soldiers-and-enjoying-the-lore" time and thats all.
I want GW to preach to me about diversity and inclusivity and how they support BLM about as much as I want the waitress at a steak house to preach to me about how she found jesus and is a reborn christian. It's out of place, presumptuous and disrespectful and mostly cringeworthy.
My message to GW is far more succinct: STFU and make minis, and barring that fuck off and die. I haven't played a single game of 40K in years. Collect? Sure. Build? Sure. Paint? Sure. Play? Fuck that. GW's rule writing department is staffed entirely by retarded monkeys who can only type nonsense in response to the corporate demanding "make them buy more minis by invalidating the builds they already have."
I don't consider myself a part of wargaming "community", any kind of "community" died years ago. The online presence in the "wargaming community" is full of women, feminists and soyboys. I couldn't give less of a fuck about belonging to it. All I care about is more plastic toy soldiers that look good that I can put in my display cases.
Letter? Dude that's a 7th Edition Codex.
I know a lot of people who just print minis now.
