Or for someone to show something to someone outside of the group. There was a Grenfell bonfire video that was shared in a private group that someone showed to someone else and then it spread and went viral. Don't assume that anything in a private group will stay private because there are individuals who do not keep things private.

We don't know. The school got wind of what was said in the private group but how or why hasn't been disclosed yet to my knowledge.
