Some people are asking why I'm saying that it is time to go if you are leaving, and prepare to stay and expect some bad shit if you are staying in the US.
This weekend we crossed a rubicon.
-
Up until now, the Trump administration has mostly been sorta (those caveats are not an accident) obeying judicial orders. This weekend they let a plane full of migrants land in El Salvador AFTER the order came to turn the plane around.
-
A US district judge ordered that a medical professor visiting Brown University with an HB1 visa not be deported until she had hearing. They deported her anyway.
-
In the middle of the night, Trump announced an executive order rescinding the pre-emptive pardons of the January 6 committee by Joe Biden. He cannot do that, but he said he has.
NONE OF THIS IS A SURPRISE, if you are paying attention. It is, however a HORROR and an ESCALATION - a planned and predictable one, but an escalation.
Project 2025 is quite clear that there is no good mechanism for enforcement by federal courts. Yes, there are potential criminal penalties, including jail for most members of the administration, but they require either force or the implied threat of force to enact, and most of the power of force is in Trump's court. Moreover, he's sure he has the Supremes.
So let's be clear. NONE OF THESE THINGS HAD TO HAPPEN - that is, Trump probably would have successfully deported those folks even if the law had been followed. There was no reason to summarily rescind those executive orders, even if they could.
The Trump administration is testing the waters. They are doing intentionally illegal things on purpose to demonstrate that they can't be stopped. Then they will do more illegal things, and more serious ones.
Up until now, there have been shallow pretenses at the rule of law. Those are over. Trump and Musk and the rest will continue to push the boundaries harder and more violently and move them until we fight back enough to stop them.
Again, none of this is unpredictable, but it means that we've entered a more dangerous phase. If you are able to leave, you should. If you are able to protect yourself and others, you should. Now is the time to move.
The opportunity to act always comes before it is completely obvious that you have to. It is possible that things won't escalate quite as quickly or as badly as I think. But the signs are all there. We are a dictatorship, and the dictator is going to do as much harm as possible. Your choices now are endure, run, fight. I can't tell you what the right one is for you - all I know is it isn't "collaborate with the fuckers." And it is time to decide. I've made my choices.
Edited to add because I said it in a different post, not this one - I have 10 kids. Several with significant disabilities. I am caring for a disabled elder and disabled adult child who cannot emigrate and would not be welcome. I'm 100% aware of the difficulties. And yes, some of my kids are dependent for their lives on medication, including insulin. I GET IT. I am by no means saying "everyone go," or "these are easy choices" or "everyone has choices." I am saying that it will never be EASIER THAN TODAY to do whatever you are going to do.
Shut the fuck up faggot.
After the last 4 years there is no reason to listen, believe or relate to people like you.
We are done communicating. Communication is useless.
Eat your fucking dinner and like it or you are going to bed hungry.
Wait a minute, OP didn't clarify this, but the title is suggesting that they didn't make this themselves and they found somebody else posting this somewhere. Can we get clarification from them that that's the case?
If not, feel free to ignore my post.
This is why grammar is important, because it took a while reading it for me to recognize that is likely the case. Something as simple as quotation marks would make it much clearer.
No, it's being spread around the social media by some random person. I did not write this. It's just a copy paste.
I meant OP
Lol
