It's a Netflix show about boxers. In order to level out the 'testosterone', they had the main character get on his knees before a woman-in-a-man's-role (loan sharking business, she's tasering punks left and right) to beg for a job.
You can say many things about Netflix shows, but 'subtlety' isn't one of them.
Which is ironic, because they make some of the most based, and masculine action movies.
The Assassin, No Tears for the Dead, The Man From Nowhere, A Bittersweet Life, and I Saw The Devil are some of the most badass and uncompromising films ever made.
New World is an easy 10/10 film that is all about masculine power plays in the criminal/corporate underworld that rivals the likes of The Godfather 2 in tone and depth.
We would never get recent films like the aforementioned out of the U.K., or the U.S.
