It'll be interesting seeing how this goes for Vavra. This is one of those situations where the game mechanics are probably solid and the typical linked traits of wokeness haven't surfaced yet, so the impact on sales will be purely cultural, which usually isn't the case.
The last time this happened with BG3, the game was very successful and a sequel will (sadly) also be successful. But BG3's developers didn't antagonize their critics 24/7 either.
Another analogous situation is The Last of Us 2, where the game had the potential to sell 14M+ units but only sold 8-9M. In that case Druckmann burned the bridges to future sequels. But TLOU2's story was offensively, insultingly bad, whereas KCD2 is a branching RPG where the degeneracy is significantly less visible.
The woke stuff is burried down enough that the average player will not even know Hans is now gay and by the time he finds out the gameplay will make up for it. The woke elements are so few compared to a modern game that if any other studio was to make this game it would have been considered based.
I hate to say it but I assume it will be a big success for them. Another thing the woke take.
