While we don't know if that is the case, they know that if it was a troon, that becomes a hell of a lot more likely or at very least it will appear that way. They're definitely covering this one aspect of the crash up for some reason, and there is a 99% chance it's not because 'the family asked'. They're hiding it because it's embarrassing to some protected class and makes it more obvious "she" should have never been piloting that helo in the first place whatever the reason.

Even worse, this unit typically had requirements of "time in service" before they rotated people in. This means that either 1) they fast tracked this tranny through flight training at Ft. Rucker and waived those requirements or 2) this person was already a pilot, and hiding their tranny tendencies in violation of standing orders.
Well it might not be a tranny, but even if it was a normal woman who did have the time in service/grade requirements, she still shouldn't have been piloting because she's a woman.
If it was a woman, it's probably another Kara Hultgreen scenario. "Hey, she's photogenic, she's a chopper pilot, why not put her in this other type and in one of the busiest airspaces in the world?"
Because it was a troon, and the crash was deliberate.

People are probably going to learn that they've been supporting a certain demographic that has a 1 in 2 suicide rate.
