Could be two things:

He's a weather vane and seems the way the wind is blowing and wants to be on the better side.
He's seen how unreliable the left is and how when Trump came in he instantly delivered on a lot of his promises so is siding with Trump as he knows no matter what he invests, he's guaranteed a return on it.
