While I understand why people hold this in high regard as a standard, its also not enough to sell something to me. Its a great baseline, a selling point to get me to look into your game, but I'm not going to plunge just for it.
As such, I passed on KCD because that's all it was really selling itself on at the time, the historical accuracy. Otherwise it looked boring to me and I've seen nothing since to change that opinion.
But that's just to me and I understand people might love it instead, no hate. Gothic is a great comparison because that's how I felt about that one too. However, I wasn't going to play this one either because of that so I won't be disappointed either way.
