I think we are forgetting how much of an autist he is in this whole situation.
Even though he's wrong or missing a few things on H1b thing due to his business bias, because of the way the Internet responds to stuff (e.g. shouting like a mob with pitchforks) it doesn't surprise me he doubles down giving the last time he buckled to that, his son got trans'd. So now he has fixated on defending his position.
But on the flipside, it makes PERFECT sense he's bringing up the UK child rape by Pakistanis rates as it's in the news now and he's been LONG fixated on fucking with the UK government ever since they tried to boss him around like he was a tool. I don't believe it's to save face, he's just autistically fixated on different issues at the same time and they shift in relevance and importance given the situation.
This is why he plays Diablo not League of Legends...
