I read an article the other day that was grading the studios this year. Most of them made profits this year. Last year was a disaster for them. I don't think they are that close to death
They got a few this year with Deadpool, Inside Out 2 and Wicked but the rest were lucky to make budget and marketing.
The profits they made are from cutbacks across the board and enough bad trust media reports to keep them afloat in investors eyes.
Those were the home runs the article mentioned. Moana 2 seems to be on track for a billion. So they got lucky with some major hits.
Moana 2 is doing fairly well but it is nothing like Inside Out 2 for relatability to younger people who are growing up and so rewatchability isn't really there for most.
Still holding its own though, and Dune 2 did surprisingly well considering its source material.
But this years profits, which are under heavy scrutiny, and last years, which were not, are world's apart. The only thing being hidden are the losses through cutbacks and that can't keep on for a second year and so it's all eyes on 2025 for actually entertaining the paying public.
Money is all fake and gay. Shaping the minds of untold millions is far more important than how much they're "losing" at the box office.
So yes, not even hurting.
