There were some people here who were upset that the FN didn't get a majority due to the other parties conspiring. It seems to have worked out well, allowing them to infight more and exhaust themselves before the next presidential and parliamentary election.
I mean, nothing stops them from pulling the same shit the next time around. They can always cheat if the FN comes within striking distance of an absolute majority. Maybe Macron will learn not to trust commies after this, but I wouldn't bet on it considering how much he hates the Right. He'd rather self immolate than allow Le Pen to become prime minister.
Macron is there for a couple more years but he's not eligible as a candidate for the next presidential election. Dosen't mean he leaves politics though.
French presidential mandates last 5 years, and someone cannot do more than 2 consecutive mandates... but there is no limits on non-consecutive mandates.
It wouldn't surprise me if he pulls a Putin/Erdogan to wait out the required break, but I'm mainly talking about him teaming up with the commies to rig the parliamentary elections, and he's allowed to call another one this summer if he wants to (the parliament has to sit for a year before it can be dissolved). It's not like a new (non-FN) president would behave any differently anyway. Dirty tricks to lock the Right out of power are very much the norm in European politics.
