She's loyal to Trump but may just need a firebrand working with her, an attack dog as you say that'll identify who and what needs purging. The concern seems to be the chief of staff Trump chose, not anyone like McMahon.
My Guess is that most of these decisions are also to "keep people in their lane". They'll focus on their specific responsibilities, and not be working on overall strategy. I don't think it will happen, but if Brandon Herrera were to be ATF head, I wouldn't be worried about what Bondi would be up to in the AG role.
