Black People Twitter as a named specific thing was hugely influential on internet slang and culture, and is the root cause of a shit ton of slang and phrases that people use now. It did more to put "black culture" in the hands of the masses than all the media before it combined. It was there as a thing bringing things like "take the L" or the like into common discussion all the way back in like 2009 or earlier.
Like, during its heyday, both reddit and /b/ had huge "black people twitter" posts everyday of people just enjoying blacks on the internet talking like ghetto rats. 4chan of course was more hateful while reddit was more "yasssss slay" and we know which of those two would control future narratives.
The problem is, they can't address how or why black twitter was so unique and different without opening the can of worms about ebonics and it coming across as laughing at dancing monkeys. So instead its this nebulous "unofficial" thing that lets all blacks become foundational internet powers instead.
