I don't think ya'll understand how big of a deal this would be.
BATF has a 50 year long history of making shit up as they go when it comes to prosecuting people for NFA violations. All sort of legal standards they use to prosecute people are entire fabrications concocted out of thin air. Constructive possession is one example, they will charge people with unlicensed possession of a suppressor just for having all the parts to make one, whether you were going to put one together or not. There is no legal language anywhere in the NFA that allows this, but it is a BATF regulation anyway, because they get to make shit up as they go along.
Another thing is there is no written standard their Technical branch follows when it comes to classifying something a firearm or not, or an NFA item or not. It is all professional opinion. In fact, the BATF intentionally doesn't make a written manual for the Technical branch because then their Technical branch inspectors have to follow it.
Putting someone like Brandon in as Director puts a stop to all of this shit. You see, Brandon is a licensed 07 FFL, who can manufacture, not just deal, and he knows lots of other people who also are FFLs.
The SES and GS15 level leadership in the agency will absolutely hate him as Director, I mean with intensity we really cannot understand, and will likely do everything they can to sabotage him.
How hard would SESs and GS15s be replaced with other guntubbers?
SES-level civil service positions are technically approved by Congress. Anything above GS-13 or so is nigh impossible to get rid of, unless they do something dumb like committing a felony on the job or wearing a MAGA hat to work.
