I dropped out of the "new" culture by watching old (1940-2010-ish) movies and tv shows through a media server. I also play classic PC and emulated video games (1980-2015-ish).
For anyone interested, all you need to run a media server is a basic PC with a CPU or GPU that has current codecs to stream movies & shows over a software media server. Often your old laptop can do it, or a super cheap PC build.
For emulated and current gaming, you pretty much just need any 8-core/16-thread CPU with a 12GB GPU. It should be enough to emulate just about any game through PS3 and Nintendo Switch era. Plus the Free GOG website is a great source for DRM-free / no-crack classic and current PC game torrents.
Lossless Scaling is a $5 app for upscaling and also does AI frame generation, up to 3x or 4x frame gen now. Basically any mid-level GPU with at least 12GB ram will likely be enough to play modern games and any classic or emulated games for the foreseeable future.
