The thing about Machiavellian principles is that they work. You might be against them, you might prepare against them but they are observable. They work so much the left already adopted them, hence the 'when we get rid of whitey we will achieve world peace'
Also, I would hardly call Trump Machiavellian. He's the most open, up-front, straightforward political figure that I've seen outside of maybe someone a Ron Paul or Thomas Massie.
