I think it is likely SMT/Persona, probably Atlus as a whole got pozzed awhile back just because of the way some of their games have been. It has been more subtle with things I have played, and there has been the normal localization drama, but it is clear they are moving towards that "modern" "progressive" kind of messaging.
They were a lost cause years ago. Basically they were full of westaboos that always wanted to have a hipster eccentric image different from other Japanese companies. They let localizers oversee productions and advertised online how cool their office was, actively encouraging more foreigners to come work for them. You can guess what happened next.
