A man can be defined in what he does in the absence of work.
Do you pick up a hobby, fix up your house/other things, and generally continue to be productive in some manner regardless of profit? I think we'd all love that, and its a shame by the time we can retire we are often not physically able to live it.
But if your response to lack of work is party, hedonism, and generally being a negative on society in every way besides spending money, then you need to be forced to work for your own good until you get some perspective and discipline.
