The whole thing is bizarre to me. The sperg out from godot, I mean.
If I remember right, the original tweet that got the ire of the community manager with the green hair was from an account with near zero reach. Their post got all of 3 likes before the CM even noticed it. AFAIK, it was not the one depicted in the story in the link OP provided. That was a call to remind them not to get involved, and to stick to making the engine easier to use.
Instead of just letting it go, they spiraled that into this, and become protected from the fallout they sperged over and made. The foundation came to the CMs defense and glossed over how it happened and instead focused on "No, it is the children who are wrong" part of the skinner meme.
This is their canary in the coal mine situation. The canary is dead, and some people insist on still using mines. It's over people. It's not going to get any better, it's going to get worse. This could have been a nothing, were it not overexaggerated into this.
They've shown this by defending the moderator, and ignoring the fact that it was instigated by that same moderator, as well as just outright banning people from the guthub and demanding they make a I'm a good boy post about it, if they want back in.
They not only agree with the mod, they're complacent. Utterly backward thinking from the whole organization. None of this needed to be taken this far.
So if you're using Godot, watch what you say until your project is complete. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of public opinion. Otherwise you'll be banned from the thing you're working on because someone felt the need to sperg out on you that day over a highly ignorable nothing.
