On https://kotakuinaction2.win - the Messages window is broken, at least for me.
A workaround is to use the https://communities.win/c/KotakuInAction2 - if you also have this problem.

Do you or dom know who owns the kia2.win domain? The original thedonald.win domain seemingly went down because of internal conflicts between their mods, and consumeproduct’s unique domain was shut down by (iirc) cloudflare or the registrar or some company like that. All of which is to say, unless you know who runs that domain there’s no harm in switching to communities.win imo (and it works better)
I don't, I think DoM does - but AFAIK the domain is just a different view on the same thing. So even if they shut down the domain, it won't affect the communities.win
My understanding is that the “legacy domains” (kia2.win, conspiracies.win, ConsumeProduct.win, etc) operate with a different (older, and mostly deprecated afaik) code base, which says they’ll probably only get buggier and buggier as the “main” site is updated. I think the idea of communities running their own domains under the main one has kind of been abandoned by the admins
Not that I know any better, but it seems to me that the code base is indeed different, but that they query the same the database.
All with all, I'd rather have a domain than not have one. People are still free to visit the site through the communities.win view.
My messages tab on KiA2.win also appears to be borked.
Whenever I go to c/meta I've been asked to use desktop mode in a different browser. For any issues. I just use soul in desktop mode.
