I predict some but not all of the blocks will be undone, there will be an announcement along the lines of "We regret that some actions were taken that don't represent the Godot project, we apologize for that. Godot has always supported all voices in game development. #LGBT" And the community manager will continue merrily on.
I invite anyone to read https://godotengine.org/code-of-conduct/ and not conclude they are woke. It's like the "Expectations" part was written by a normal human and says all they need to say, then there's a "Restricted content" part that's five times as long, totally unnecessary, and can be summed up as "We know you disgusting white males are going to be disgusting all the time, and look forward to banning you when you inevitably make a brave womxn of color uncomfortable." They actually use the word 'uncomfortable' as a bannable offense.
In other news, unity has removed their per-install pricing and swears that any future changes will only ever apply to versions introduced after the change. I don't know if they're woke.
Very likely the case.
Yup, they were always at the very least mildly woke. The issue is they went full mask off, and full authoritarian, and declared war on their own user base. They handed the reins to an insane alphabet person.
Eh, at least Godot is forkable, and has an open license. Despite this current kerfuffle, they can't fuck you as hard as Unity could, and are still a better option. I hate what is happening with Godot right now, but I'd still say they're a better option than something more mainstream like Unity, where you'd be fully at their mercy.
Until there's a fork, my current advice would be: Use Godot, but make no mention of using Godot, do not promote Godot, do not include any Godot logos in your loading screen, etc. Cut them out, do not give them credit and, definitely, do not donate to or otherwise fund them. You can still use Godot (for now), while absolutely despising them.
It isn't "not crediting the product", it's making a private one-off fork of the product that happens to be the exact release one. The joys of open source work.
