It's difficult to properly place the Stinger Report. There's XR, FEC, Arcade, theme park, and bar news in it. Generally it's how the hang out industry is doing.
Stinger Report
The entire XR scene is not doing well. Arcades are suffering, and anything videogames as well. Latest Stinger Report talks about it
Another Stinger Report. The at home market for VR is dying, while the commercial arcade and LBE market is doing better.
How IP is being used for more experiences
An Asian amusement convention to show off the latest tech coming from the big names there.
A big theme park and innovation convention happened in Saudi Arabia. Kevin Williams has a bunch about it
After the Covid scare I imagine a huge portion of people are afraid to be around crowds and sharing the same joysticks
What I've observed is that the people who weren't leaving the house anyway are still using it as an excuse. It's surprising how much is happening. The FEC and a theme park world seems to be changing but doing great. Those industries have survived all sorts of things already and know how to adapt.
They give us misanthropic hermits a bad name.
I think one of the weirder things is how much they try to look trendy at these places. Trendy people go here. It's not cool people, it's not people with money, it's trendy people dressed in business casual clothes. The actual visitors rarely look like that, but every promotional post or catalog sent out has only them.
I think we call those people hipsters
More business trendy than hipster.
What we need is to form our own Diogenes Club and gatekeep all the pussies so that it's just made up of antisocial autists.
I'm designing a theme park for WarHammer 40k for fun.
