Amazon, amazon, amazon... There's this thing called "uncanny valley". You can't be too close to reality but then completely miss the mark at the last furlong. If you have a black gay disabled British monarch, you gotta also make him a lightning wizard bloodmage, who can shapeshift (and that one just happens to be his preferred form).
Then you get to have your ridiculous royals, but it more firmly separates the series from reality, backing away from the History uncanny valley. No one cares if you have a medieval England styled show, only if you have a medieval England historic show.
You say that, but I also would not watch a show about a gay disabled wizard with a fetish for Blacks. And if his entire kingdom was clearly modeled after medieval Europe and populated by Whites, I would still call it bad world building to have him be obsessed with being Black—unless that was a deliberate point of contention where his court and subjects dislike him for it. And are right to do so.
Oh yes, he'd have to be a villain in such a context, or at least an antagonistic figure.
