The sad truth of the matter is that, that time period showed us who/what type of people surrounded us in society.
Everyone I have ever known prior to 2019 would have said, with complete conviction, that they never ever would have gone along with the Nazi's in Germany, or the Fascist in Italy, etc... They surely would have sided with the resistance..
Well, 2019-23 came and went and everyone and their mothers got to see who is who. Sadly, at least from where I am/was, there isn't 1 in 1000 that wouldn't turn their own family into the state should it request them.
There was a tweet/x from I think Brain Cates that went something like(paraphrasing):
People wonder what could have caused so many people to fall for the covid con, but these people were brought up in a life where if they just kept their heads down, and did what they were told everything would be ok. For the first time in their lives they're going to pay a very stiff price for that ignorance.
