These retards are going to be outperformed by autists on two laptops coding on a weekend but you don't even have to be that insane to pump out something better than what AAA studios produce these days. Don't let people gaslight you into thinking it's too hard or expensive to make a decent game, it's not with the game engines that are out there now. Nothing that dumb animator is doing for his job is complex, what a bullshit artist.
You absolutely can and don't let anyone tell you different, you won't make zomg wtf AAA graphics or anything, but there's nothing stopping you from making a perfectly respectable low poly game. You could easily turn it into a nice style and quite a few indie devs do.
Pro Tip: Learn shaders and texturing techniques to up your graphics game if it bothers you that much but I've seen indie devs pumping out doom-esque shooters and such that looks quite nice.
