They even say that the girl had to die for the sins of the group. Throughout the episode whenever they were accussing one of the group they were sure to show them wearing their crosses.

Most of these guys are just still mad their grandma or schoolteacher took away their gameboy or Pokemon cards and are still seething from it.
I lost mine too, but because we were gambling with it and I see as an adult why they did that.
