Because normal white men liked Lara Croft at one point and queer communists have a biological imperative to destroy everything that's good and beautiful in the world.
The double standard annoys me a little. You see the cover of romance novels and the males are traditionally attractive. Nobody tries to shame women for liking attractive men but guys get a lot of crap if they don’t want to date an overweight woman
