Yeah I had a GTX 970 as well, for years. I upgraded it last winter for a used Radeon XT 5600 - still an old card but it does about 50% better in benchmarks and it cost me almost nothing. I'm so glad I switched, too - I run lunix and nVidia drivers are unbelievably shit.
Looks like I picked a good time to switch, last build. Dodged a bullet.
I still use an i5-6600K that I got nearly a decade ago, but when I finally upgrade I'm definitely going AMD.
I used, I think it was an i7-6700k, and a Nvidia GTX 970, for like twelve years.
Finally upgraded to a much more beastly and modern machine, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a 7900 XTX. Hopefully that also lasts me a decade plus.
