Why did the government allow this attempt to happen just days before the convention?
Because with Trump dead yesterday there wouldn't be time for the party to sort out a true Trump ideological populist successor and they could use their blackmail and leverage to get Haley or somebody just as bad. They'd have to put out rebellion fires here and there, but they have more than enough police state to do that. The threat to their democracy would be over.
But after the convention whoever Trump picks for VP would be the head of the ticket and whoever that is
will be way, way worse for their democracy than Haley.
The timing is yet another reason to suspect deep state involvement because I doubt this patsy was thinking about what's the best way to help the deep state keep power.
