When have they attempted a political assassination? Keep in mind that talking about it does not equate to an attempt.

Weathermen attacks: 1969, 1970, 1970, 1970, 1971 (Capital bombing), 1972, 1975. I'm missing a few, they made claim to 25 attacks. All on government buildings and officials. Not single target assassinations but the intent was clear.
