I'd argue Norman Bates isn't trans, and was going to object to that from the article. He doesn't think he's a woman, he takes on a totally different character because he's insane, and it's to prop up his main personality, which is and always was a man. He doesn't exactly try to become a woman, he essentially creates a fictional version of one, but the whole point is that he doesn't think he's her.
It's not really "trans" in either the modern or older sense, at least in my opinion. It's kind of funny, since I think trannies actually tried to claim Norman Bates a few years back. And now here they go again, but it's bad this time, or something.
