I used to joke that growing up my mom demanded that we speak the Queen’s English at home which isn’t far from the truth. I found it annoying when she corrected me or wouldn’t let me use slang as well as making my siblings and I learn new vocabulary words on a regular basis. I look back and am very thankful she did.
They may as well just come out and say “comporting oneself in a civilized manner is white supremacy”
These articles and 'studies' basically just reinforce actual White Supremacy because they are just apologist towards inferiority, rather than pull people up they pull the top people down. "Equity".
Also Smithy - congrats you're now a mod ;)
I am?
Yes - i added you and Lethn as Mods for ArtificalIntelligence - so you could have a play with tools and run amok!
Thanks! I’ll have to check that out
The Smithsonian is way ahead of you. The National Museum of African American History and Culture put this infographic out a few years ago. Honestly this is one of the best entries in the game of "Klansman or Progressive?".
I remember that, and then they quickly took it down. lol
My mom used to make us look up words in the dictionary at the dinner table when we didn't know them. We got a lot of use out of that dictionary over the years.
My favorite book growing up was the Encarta World English Dictionary. I still have it on my shelf, even though I hardly use it anymore.
Now that is a name I haven’t heard in a very long time (Encarta)
Wasn't that the First Disc based Dictionary back in he day?
I used to hate to hear “look it up”. I’m sure now you are glad she did
Using vocabulary to accidentally flex on people is great, yes.
We played the game that is now commercially known as Balderdash(?) for years before it was released as a board game. All you needed was a dictionary and pens and paper. Really fun game and it taught you so many new words. no need to buy the game either all you need is a decent dictionary. Actually you just gave me an idea for another version of it but using Urban Dictionary. That could be fun
