Besides his seppuku (which is more a samurai tradition than him really) , what about his beliefs do you find "cancerous"? he was against commies, against materialism and globalism , pro religion (Japanese religion anyways), against Japanese people becoming a "rootless people"
So your main issue with him is that he holds on to very old traditional samurai beliefs which often meant "death before dishonor" and the like. You don't have to agree with that, but what you can agree with is his nationalistic beliefs and having the guts to oppose a society that had forgotten its roots.
Also he never said "the emperor didn't go far enough " he said "the emperor should not have denied his own divinity even if he didn't believe in it himself" for he was a national symbol of Japan itself for many people in Japan
