Rise of Skywalker made over a billion dollars in theaters. Then streaming and merchandise on top of that. The vast majority of people don't watch youtube video essays about the decline of media, they just buy whatever is on the shelf.
Die hard fans were willing to eat shit in hopes it got better, the last movie did half of the shitty force awakens movie because the shit turned into more shit.
Calibrate yourself. The force awakens is the #5 highest grossing movie of all time. You are actually arguing that a movie that made A BILLION DOLLARS was a failure because it didn't make TWO BILLION DOLLARS. You're shit-talking a movie for not being in the top five of all time.
Listen, I think new star wars is shit. If I talk to my normie family about it, they kind of agree. But do you know what they do? They watch fucking star wars. All the streaming shows, all the movies, they buy the merch. You voting with your wallet by not going to one $20 movie that you were probably going to pirate anyway doesn't matter at all in the face of someone who is buying $2000 worth of star wars shit. They are canceling your vote out by 100x.
Disney is not "burning money". They will make another billion dollars from this. That is why they are making it. This constant dribble of woke=broke fantasy fiction is fucking intolerable. In the incredibly unlikely event that they do lose money, they'll just fire a bunch of people and buy some other properties.
I’m shit talking a movie that flopped its own projections.
The truth is that Star Wars is starting to flounder, sure you’ll get “merch sales” but this only lasts until something better comes along. The user reviews are showing the reality, quality has tanked and it’s being noticed, the profitability has drastically declined, they were expecting to make the full purchase of Lucasfilms back with the new trilogy. Retard Johnson and Kennedy made sure that this will likely not happen for another decade.
